Shiny Mac help SORTED

Ok guys I am using a nice big shiny Mac in a house we are staying in. The owner is not here, so after finding how to fire it up with the tiny power button at the back of the screen, how the hell do I shut it down properly when I have finished with it?

Click on little black apple logo top left corner - one of options should be Shut Down
 
Thank you Jon :thumbs: I can now see peoples reasons for wanting a Mac I must admit :D
 
Replaced a series of Win laptops with a Macbook Pro two months ago - complete & utter convert - never going back. Just beautiful...........trails off into silence just thinking about it............bit sad really (me that is, not the Mac!).
 
Just waiting for Santa to bring me a nice shiny 27" led mac screen for my mbp then goodbye windoze forever. Id like to say its been nice but i can't. Can't wait to ditch the horrible little system with all its crashes and bugs.
 
Converted about 3 years ago or so to a basic MacBook. Then upgraded to a MacBook Air earlier this year and have no reason to go back to Windows ever again.

Haven't touched a Windows PC since December and when I look at them now just find them confusing!
 
I use an iMac and Macbook at home, no problems at all, run for hours, everything open and no trouble..

I use a windows 7 computer at work and it crashes daily..

Not trying to start a fight I am just saying that I'm gonna start taking my mac to work :lol:

your it dept is rubbish then, windows should never crash daily. If it does then there is a significant, probably hardware issue, causing it.

And for the record macs crash just as much as anything else (taken from a tech support point of view). The hardware isn't any more reliable either.
 
I've been using Windows machines for donkey's years and never been attracted to the price tag of Macs. although they do wear pretty frocks, but I really can't fathom how switching to Mac would improve my life. I fire up the machine and then primarily use just four main programs....

- Digiguide TV schedule (Windows only)
- Outlook 2003 for email and calendar (+ Gsyncit to sync with the Google cloud for my Android phone)
- Chrome browser (IE9 for one website which requires IE)
- Lightroom

Given that my system is perfectly stable - vanilla Windows 7 x64 install and no manufacturer crapware installed - how would OS X and a Mac make things better? I mean, once I'm busy in Lightroom for a few hours what possible difference will the OS make? I just don't get it. I do get paying under £1,000 for an i7 quad core full HD 17" laptop, but not paying around £2,000 for much the same thing in a prettier frock. Someone help me understand.

I really don't know what people do...:shrug:

I have 187 processes running on my Win7 machine here and systeminfo gives the last boot time as System Boot Time: 19/10/2011, 19:19:47 (can't even remember why, but probably a windows update). The machine is on 24/7 too.

I do have a lot more issues with my IT dept. managed Win XP laptop though....

Given I'm an atheist, it's now wonder I have problems with peoples dogmatic views on why Macs are better ;)
