Yes
I live in Edinburgh near the harbour and looking out of the office at work onto the Forth of Forth, and have noticed that with the sun it looks beautiful.
Now I'm a big transport fan and I was thinking I could take some pretty nice shots of the ships and water life on the water from the shore.
I was just wondering what sort of zoom lens I would need for that?

Onethat fills the frame if you want a full framed picture.

One that gives you a big ship in a seascape if you want to show the surroundings.

If what you have isn't long enough, how much of the frame do you need to increase by? Multiply that to your current focal length.

eg - using a 50mm at th emo and it means the subject is half the size you really want it, then you need a 100 togive you what you want.

If you are using a 200 and it isn't enough, you need to judge how much you need to increase it by - using the % of frame covered with the current lens.
