Can anyone recommend any good shops that take in trade-ins please??
 
You'll be much better off selling on here or ebay, better price and freedom to purchase your D800 from whoever you wish.

Spoke to them today. They offered me the most laughable amount for a camera :(

Not after a D800 - maybe another D700. There's not such thing as a D800 anyway!

I know LCE have to make a profit etc but I've had a similar experience! Saw a 5d2 once and just out of interest asked about my mint 7d in part ex (was offered £500?). Seriously think the only people who must sell to them must be togs who need cash to buy some crack! Have had a good price and hassle free transaction with mpb though!

Campkins in Cambridge take trade ins, but I shudder to think what they would offer

Camera World also do part ex, but given the laughable amount they offered a chap when I was in the Wells St branch not recommending them either

Know these shops have to make money, but do they have to be so cut throat with their offers and then take the **** with some of the silly prices they want for the used gear

One last thought, how about the lot out at Cottenham, can't remember their name, but they are always advertising to buy used equipment, think its Cam something or the other

Just being inquisitive now, but any reason you don't want to sell on here or Ebay for that matter?

Grays of Westminster (strictly a Nikon shop) take trade-ins or just purchase from you. They are comparable to Mifsuds in what they offer for equipment. I've sold several pieces of equipment to them. Just email them and they will send you back a quote.

Can't be bothered providing two dozen sample shots and the same number again of images of the item just to be inundated with low ball offers on here and the increasingly crap fees on eBay maybe?

I recently got a quote from MPB for a body I wanted rid of and it was surprisingly decent. I managed to sell it through other channels quickly enough and for more but would have probably taken their offer had I not been successful.
 
I've sold to Mifsuds and MPB and got fair prices. I tried Park Camera who offered me £1,500 for a very clean Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS, needless to say I declined and never used them again.

Private sale if you can on here is the best though.
 
Private sales will get you your best price,but thing are a bit tight for everybody,i find a lot of people are just setting their prices to high :)

It must vary according the LCE location. I have dealt with them twice and both times was offered a good opening price that they would negotiate around and eventually I accepted. I have found them very fair and not for funding 'crack'!

Same here I have used mine for years,even before it became LCE,and always got very good deals from them.
