Hi all, due to a change in personal circumstances and working away near constantly I haven't been around here for a while, in fact I haven't picked up my camera for over a year until Saturday!

I decided to pop along to the local airshow at Shoreham to get some practise in with the camera before Silverstone this weekend, I'm sure everyone has heard what happened by now. We were situated in the disabled viewing area which is only a few hundred meters from the spot where the aircraft hit, we could feel the heat from the fire balls. I haven't posted any images of the fireballs as the aircraft crashed but I informed the authorities that I have images.

Here are a couple of photos that I got of XV372 before the tragic accident.

Anyway Hi to those that remember me as well as the people that have joined since I was last here.

I find the shots of the Hawker doing it's thing 'as normal' before the accident even more poignant than the more dramatic photos of the accident itself. It must have been a very weird feeling to have seen it in person!

It was shocking, I did think it was possible for 20,000 people to become so quiet and to be honest I think it took a few full hours for it to sink in as to what we had witnessed.

Yeah I definitely have those same feelings about mine. It was the first thing I'd bothered to try to shoot that day as I'd deliberately missed the first 1.5hr flying slot in the morning (hangover). I was getting annoyed when the Hunter turned up because I was having trouble getting on it to track through my lens. Looking back at the few shots I got definitely feels strange and even if I look back at the various shots of it that I got last year it seems very weird when I remember what's happened :(

I must admit Phal the only reason that I have pictures of the aircraft flying before hand is because I hadn't used my camera for a while and was trying to get my eye in and get used to it again. The hunter was the first of the aircraft that I was actually interested in seeing. Makes you think about life doesn't it, I have recently bought a house and become focused totally on saving up money to over pay on the mortgage working every hour of overtime available. I came away from the show realising how short our lives are and how quickly it can be ended. This morning I thought sod it and bought a 300mm f/2.8 and extender, time for me and the family to spend a bit more time together doing what we love :)
