Shoud/Do i need a new body?

I currently have a Sony Alpha 350... which my partner got me last xmas (and is my first DSLR).

but i have been approached to do a few weddings in the summer, and i feel i need an extra body?

do i go for the option of getting a cheap one? or do i get one to succeed my currently Sony?

i dont have any more at the moment but hoping to save some before July.

What is the best Canon camera to get for aroudn 3-400 with kit lens? :bang:

sorry if im not making sense but im currently at work and have dived onto the interenet on a break
 
Natually you would want the 2 bodies be in the same brand so you can share lenses, and yes, ideally, you want another body.

1 - You have a back up
2 - You don't need to change lenses (as much)
 
love your website ray... i was ust thinking canon or even nikon as its easier to get lenses and accessories for them rather than sony as they have limited range and are more expensive.
 
Personally I'd go for a newer body, and use your current as backup. Newer ones will be better at ISO handling, which is going to be pretty vital as weddings are usually dimly lit. Definitely stay with the same brand, so if you want a Canon backup, I'd sell your current kit and go all in, or get a newer Sony body and keep everything sony.

Look at fast lenses as well, anything under f/2.8 is going to start struggling at a wedding I would imagine!

thanks for the heads up.... i will have a look into it... just dont really want to sell the surrent kit as it was a present from my girlfriend.

any ideas on a new body/kit that is around the same spec as my 350 for around the 300 mark?
 
The replacements for the 200/300/350 are the 230/330/380 and they are the only new Sony bodies that are in your £300 budget. They are a new body shape but broadly the same specification as the predecessor models.

The 500 and 550 have recently been introduced which live between the 2/3xx series and the 700 and reportedly have better high ISO performance, but are well out of your £300 budget.

Have you run up against a lens that you wanted being unavailable in the Sony/Minolta A-mount?
