Yes
My flashes - yes 2 of them - have been ****ing me right off... Whn i take a picture i have to 'predict' what my flash is going to do.. i got a couple of flashes off ebay a few months ago just because at thr time i was wanting to see what to do with a flash and how it will improve my photography. Ok so its time to buy a good flash. BTW i got a couple of flashes with dials on the back for how much the flash .. erm flashes...

I need to know what flash to buy and until after christmas i dont have a make to buy one so im now researching for a good flash after chrsitmas plus i want to know what strobes i can get cheap that will do me justice in my studio.

BTW i run a website design business and normally after new year things real pick up and i have a bit of spare cash so i will be able to equip my self with some good gear BUT i dont want to get hard nipples and start buying stuff willy nilly so i need advice and i need it soon!!!

I look forward to you reply!!

btw i got offered a couple of MD400 strobes, old jessops 80's jobs (jessops .. i hate jesso p s) and the guy said he would not let them go for less than £150... i think he has found a couple of strobes that he will be keeping warm for a long time... unless of course i am wrong and they are the best thing since sliced bread and ive turned down a real bargain ? any advice on them would be good!

I just googled the MD400's and I'd steer clear of them - there are plenty of more modern flashes a lot cheaper. I found a forum post from 2007 that values them at less than £50 then.

All the Canon flashes are great. I've got 2 EX580's modded for Radio Triggers (The MkII has it already) and two Vivitar HV285's.

It all depends exactly what you want from them?

If you want to use them off camera and fully manual then the vivitars are good if just a little less power than the EX580. If you want the ability to put it on the camera and have a load of automatic features then the Canons are the way to go.

Now please put those nipples away! :)

thanks for the advice all ill look into the flashes and makers you said above. Ill probably get a canon one when i get some cash together.

Also consider the 550ex as well, from my experience they last longer and are built better.
