#1 must have been taken wide open? Sharp horse but rider not quite?

That last one was potentially the best but it's out of focus by the looks of it.

There's also a yellow cast on them all. That's really sounding negative but it's not really, just critique :)

Thanks for the feedback. All at f2.8 ISO6400

Note to self....only post those in focus....MUPPET

ah the joys of shooting poorly lit indoor horse comps.. still, other than the first two are quite high up in the frame they pretty good for the conditions :)

watch out at Merrist Wood though, i heard last photographer they had packed up for good as people were constantly ripping off his photos..

That's right Neil. He's out of the photography business altogether. Too many people ripping off from his web. I've found plenty of my watermarked thumbnails on Facebook !

good pics in challenging conditions. Did some for a friend at an indoor arena last weekend, cant really go above 1600 on the D300s, which even at f2.8 only gave 1/160th which was not fast enough. Would have killed for a D700 @ 6400!!!! Of course using the 70 - 200 wide open means minimal depth od field compounding the problems. Happily my next show is outdoors!!!

what to do about people ripping off photos? really dont know, many horse people I know just want a pic up on facebook until the next event. they dont care if its watermarked, or poor quality, quite a few use their phones to take a picture from the proofs!

Bottom line is I dont think people value photos like they used to.

Eh? The D300s should be fine at 3200, and not too bad at 6400.

It's reputedly got less noise than the 7D and I'll certainly use that happily in the 3200 bracket.

with the D90 (same sensor) I find anything above 1600 just too grainy. Will give it a bash at 3200 and 6400 by Im not confident!

OK just taken a couple of pics indoors at 6400 ISO. Bit of work in lightroom to reduce noise and its pretty good - thanks for the prod!. Oh well next time..........
