This is spectacular. Spectacular fail that is Dubai.

Some of those photographs are outrageous, especially the labour camp workers. Labour camps? What is this? I thought we were living in a progressive world.

I spent a few hours in Dubai, mainly going through it to get to Abu Dhabi and was awe struck at the level of development. Had to constantly remind myself that most of it was built through slave labour.

Nah! .... Minimum wage ... same as here really :shake:

It's only minimum wage if they actually get paid it!
Sounds awfy like a lot of countries are feeling the bite as much or more so than we have in the UK. It seems it is only now that it is really starting to bite in some places.

It's not the same as here, because here your passport doesn't get confiscated while you're at work.

No, thats true, here you don't even HAVE a passport and get smuggled into the country to be used and abused by unscrupulous companies. Much better!

True.

Have you been there though? There are dozens of buses with metal bars over the windows shipping workers back and forth between labour camps and construction sites. Can't say I've ever seen that in Edinburgh. Although it probably does go on in a smaller scale.
