Shutter count: is it accurate,what about exif

yes i have googled and tried the help and cant find a answer :(

i am trying to work out how many shots my D3s has taken

i cant see it in the exif so i found shutter count downloaded a pic and this is what it says

myshuttercount.com will give you the correct result as you have obtained (26422) - extended exif programmes will also reveal it but a standard 'simple' exif check won't.
 
i think its that i had thought i had taken more photos than i had.

i just checked my D700 with shuttercount and its what i expected so it must be correct

Download Kuso exif viewer first (free download)

What you need to do is take a photo DON'T edit it. Just right click on it and the drop down list should have Kuso in it. Click on Kuso and at the top there is a small box to extend the data so click that and the list should show shutter count.

Kuso gives far more info than other exif viewer programs

Last time I checked my old D90 I used Oanda. Just make sure it's an unprocessed JPEG as mentioned.

That's very low mileage for a D3s btw, people will still pay handsomely for one with a count that low.

i was wondering about getting a D4 its £2,000 differance though :gag:
and everyones the same price.
wasnt so long ago a D3s was the saviour of photography :lol:

seems you cant buy a D3s now or D700 but the D3x is still available.
 
The D3s still fetches good prices over here at least. I see the odd one going up on used sites. I've seen ones with 100K+ actuation count go for over £2500. Probably because the D4 isn't that big a leap, and the price ...
 
irfanview with the addition of its plugins package (all free) will let you read the image count from your NEF files e.g.

capture29.jpg


See at the bottom "Total Pictures"
