Yes
I can see that folk are quoting the shutter count their camera`s have, My 500d is exibiting a file count of 316, As i bought it second hand I cant be sure if its correct, Is there a way to be difinitive.

download Opanda exif veiwer and read the exif information from your most recent shot. That will show it you

Ok, Thanks, I have downloaded but it displays an extrordinary amount of info, Any tips about where the info on shutter count is, sorry if its obvious, I have only looked at it briefly.

it does - doesn't it. I'm sorry - no real idea for the canon ranges, but it will be obvious from the label

I would be interested this as well, I have had a look through the EXIF info from this morning but nowehere can I see the shutter count.

can you post a shot of the capture so we can comment?

Hhhmmm,I have studied the info but there does not seem to be any ref; to the total shutter operations.

The shutter count is not available for Canon 500D cameras. Canon does not release that information in the exif data.

You could try this,

eos shutter count

It's aimed at the 40/50D but should work on your model

AFAIK the following models can give a shutter count:

40D, 50D, 1D/s MK1 & 1D/s MK2

And these don't:

5D, 20D, 30D, 1DMK3

Even then it's 100% reliable - I think the count is altered on 1DMK2's if you restore the personal settings from a backup file.

Not sure on other bodies, sorry!

Phil
