Shutter Release Cable

Hi All,

Can anyone tell where I can get a shutter release cable for a D3000 Please.

Also don't want to pay a fortune if I can help it.

Check the manual to see what the official Nikon one is called (part number) then look on Amazon or similar to find a 3rd party equivalent. I've used Hama releases for a few years with no problems.

I used a Hama one when I Had a Sony DSLR and it served me well

I just got a 99p one from amazon for my 550D and it does the trick, don't need to spend a lot on one imho

+1 for ebay cables, plus 7dayshop used to do a wireless remote for flash that doubled as a shutter release

Sorry, but unless I'm completely wrong the D3000 doesn't support cable release ... it's IR only :thumbsdown: The Nikon IR is the ML-L3 but there are plenty of 3rd party equivalents on eBay

The only downside of an IR release is that it needs to be pointing at the front of the camera to work reliably. There are (or at least used to be) little mirror arrangements to make them more reliable from behind but in my experience, it was usually just as easy to just reach around to point the remote at the receiver. You can easily bodge a mirror to do the job - dentist type mirrors are cheap in Superdrug or Boots and an inch or 2 of insulating tape isn't going to break anyone's bank!

Always worth carrying a spare battery for the remote - it's bound to die when you need it most! (From memory, it's a 2016 cell but check before buying one!)
