Shuttercount on Canon 300d

Grateful for some advice - how does the numbering system work on the Canon 300d? An example with exif appears to show 1595926 as the image number. Now this is either very high mileage or the image numbering is not (my) logical.

Anyone?

I looked at my old 300D and numbers are CRW-5808.CRW for a RAW file whict I allways took a JPG and got IMG-5809
BUT looking at it in camera it shows as 258-5809
So not sure what the nember you got is...

Unless I am very wrong - I have little experience with Canon - that would be the image number rather than the shutter count in exif. The count above was from exif.
