Did anyone else see the BBC's Breakfast show this morning? Specifically the coverage of the Shuttle being piggybacked over the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco and in front of the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. Absolutely stunning. The video on Sky News's site gives a hint as to the spectacle and I'm about to have a search for more still images. http://news.sky.com/story/988124/space-shuttle-endeavours-final-flight .

Can't believe that those three points on the back of the 747 manage to hold the shuttle in place. Even more confusing is who did they find with enough bottle to land the shuttle on the back of the 747!!!! ;)

I remember when they first started testing the Shuttle and used the 747 to transport it. Always wanted to see the Shuttle take off, a friend of mine did and said it was the loudest thing he has ever heard, considering he was about 5 miles away form it.

I remember seeing the shuttle come in to Heathrow on a 747 back in the early 80's. Unbelievable sight

I saw it when it landed at Stansted before it became an International Airport. We queued on the hard shoulder of the M11 :nono:(as directed by Police:thumbs:) for what seemed like hours, then as we parked in a field at the side of the airport and just getting out of the car, the 747 came into land. Certainly was a spectacular sight.

I found this on youtube a while back. Earphones in, volume up ;)

hmm.....I saw it in Rome in 1983, through the windows of the Colosseum.

Hell of a juxt....lol

I remember seeing STS Enterprise coming into land in piggy-back mode when it visited the UK. We'd been travelling somewhere and it came on the radio, so a scenic detour was arranged.

(Stansted, not Heathrow)

It did a low approach and fly-by at Heathrow before continuing on to Stansted....5th June 1983.

I'd love to see it fly, even in piggyback on the 747. Would be such a magestic sight. There's quite a few posts on POTN.com with photos of it flying.

hi Andy I was there too and took a similar shot, but look at the tiles they are mint, compared to the last flight, where it looks as though lumps have been knocked out of it.
