Hi

I keep getting to the point of almost ordering one of these (Canon fit) ,whether it's from amazon or one stop digital or wherever. And then I read the reviews and for every four giving it 5 stars theres one giving it 3 or less saying stuff like "mine was very soft on the left, had to send it back 3 times until i got one that was ok out of the box" and similar.

This is a tad worrying. So is this still the case and could I still end up with a duff one?:(
Or, as many of the reviews seem to be a year or more old, have Sigma addressed the problem now?

Many thanks for any info.

I have no knowledge of this lens but it's entirely possible that any lens from any manufacturer could have an issue. I would suggest purchasing from a reputable UK based company - that way if you're not happy you can always easily return it.

I have seen some of the reviews on Amazon about it being soft on one side or whatever - but from what I can tell these were all from the earlier days of said lens, when there WERE known issues, which were fixed by Sigma. If a lens were to be soft on only one side, I'd say that's a slightly mis-aligned lens element causing it to act a little like a TS-E lens.

I owned the Sigma 10-20 and found it to be very good. Build quality is great and the focus/zoom rings very very smooth - like canon L lenses. The lens has also got AF to die for - I swear mine could focus in near darkness.
