Sigma 10-20 soft - repairable?

Not sure if this is actually possible but i feel that the sigma 10-20 i bought a while ago is a bit soft and not as sharp as id hoped/like it to be.

Anyone know if i can i take it anywhere to be fixed to make it sharper or is it just a lost cause? (hoping no one says hlehmens as had bad experience there with my old 1000d).
 
Soft at all apertures?
 
could it not just need a little micro focus adjustment?
 
If it's soft one one side of the image, the diapraghm blades have probably been knocked and will need re-aligning / recalibrating.

How old is the lens? This problem occurred particularly with the older versions

Why don't I try using smaller aperture? Say f9 on it.
 
Mike - I couldnt see anywhere on their site saying that you could send it back which is why i was asking what i could do, will have another look on the site to see if i can spot somewhere.

Alastair - It seems soft at whenever i have used it (will have a proper play with it tonight at different apertures to make sure.

Cuthbert - wouldnt of thought it was that as all my other lenses seem fine so wouldnt of thought i would need to adjust that.

Mark - its all the image thats soft. as for the age of the lens i really dontk now as i bought it s/h off here.

Tony - Will give that ago tonight when i get in to see if it makes any difference.

it sounds like just a tad of micro focus adjustment will solve your problem completely. the softness of the lens is caused by very slight front or back focussing i reckon.

if i recall correctly on the 50d you can microfocus adjust individual lenses, not just everything - you can register the lens in the custom functions menu and adjust it as required.

i adjusted my sigma 85 1.4 using this method:
