Sigma 10-20 vs Sigma 17-50

Forgive me if there are already topics on this, but I did search and it turned up nothing.

So I was wondering. I have heard a lot of good things about the 10-20, and I was wondering what it has over the 17-50. I am currently using my 17-50 for landscapes, mostly, examples here!

Will the extra 10 give me that much more? Are there any other pros other than that?
 
You could always set your 17-50 to around 17mm and then take a few photos, then set it to 24mm and then take the same photos. This would give you an idea of how much the 7mm would make, this is obviously a very crude way of doing it, but it if you find the difference between 17 and 24 quite big, i'd imagine you'd find the difference between 10 and 17 quite big too?
 
10mm is miiiiiles wider than 17mm but whether it will give you anything mroe is up for debate.

Ultra wide can give some fantastic results but you've got to know how and, importantly, when to use it.

I LOVE my ultra wide angle but on a recent trip about 90% of my landscape shots were taken with a 70-300.

That's not the same. 24 to 17mm is 7/24ths increase in FOV, 17 to 10 is 7/17 ;) i.e. A LOT wider

just to clarify, going from 499 to 500mm is not the same as going from 10 to 11

Yes it will give you a lot more, but unless you are hankering to fit more in when out shooting landscapes don't bother. Plenty of people find 17 or 18mm wide enough. Not for me though i bought a 10-20 within a month of having my 1st dslr.

Hence the "very crude way to do it", it gives an idea of the difference, didn't say it was going to match it.
