Quick question as I am getting mixed answers...

Will this lens work with a 5D or 1D?

I bought it for my 20D but some sites say it wont work with a full frame sensor as the mirror may foul on the lens?

Is this true?

I believe that the lens is EF-S (does it have a white or red locator dot? White is EF-S)
In which case, it will definitely not work with the 5D (EF only), and I am pretty sure the 1D is EF only too.

It has an EF-S mount and will not fit on a full-frame camera as far as I am aware.

It seems to to be a common reason why people are selling these on.

Yep, same reason I sold mine on, otherwise I'd still have it as it was fantastic.

And again, just sold mine: was gutted when I realised it wouldn't work on a full frame . It's a great lens and a replacement wide angle for full frame is going to be much more expensive.

I use mine on the 1D without too much issue... between 10mm-12mm there is vignetting but because the lens was designed to fit nikon's 1.5x crop you can get an extra mm of focal length using the camera on a 1d without heavy vignetting, (1mm is quite a difference in Field of View at these low focal numbers). So personally, it's actually made it more usable rather than less useable on a 1.3x factor... with a full frame it would be a different story for me if I'm honest.

Thats a real shame to have to sell the lens when I upgrade as a) I only just bought it lol and b) its such a fantastic lens for creative shots

On the positive side, I doubt you'll have much trouble selling it. They seem to go fairly quickly on here
