Sigma 12-24mm Reduced @ Jessops

It amazes me how sigma haven't sorted this out, it's quite apparent there has been problems with softness in this lens for quite some time, it's noted on a few forum's, it's like they don't give a toss, quite honestly there quality control overall leaves a lot to be desired :shake:

Needless to say that this will be going back to Jessops for a refund, I'm not even going to bother trying to find a better copy it's not worth the hassle. I'm sure that 17mm is wide enough for almost every occassion.

Any chance you could upload one of the shots with the soft band? Just curious to see what it looks like.

That or the Jessops warehouse has been using them as footballs?

What annoyed me is when i asked them to send the lens away, they accused ME of damaging the lens saying i had dropped it and tried to charge me? Thankfully the manager in the store was very understanding and i have now had this refunded. Still a bit upset but im sure my 17mm will remain with me for sometime.
 
It's sounding like Jessops are just putting these faulty lenses back on the shelf, rather than sending them back to Sigma. They're probably not the only retailers doing this, given that many places have a no-quibble exchange policy.

I nearly bought a Sigma 12-24mm from digital-4-u.co.uk, and ended up changing my order to a Canon 17-40mm L. I e-mailed them to point out that there seemed to be a lot of soft copies of the Sigma in circulation, and asked if there would there be any problem returning it if it turned out to be soft. The reply was that they wouldn't treat a complaint of softness as a fault, and although digital-4-u would be happy to replace the lens, I would have to pay postage. So if I did buy a lens from them and end up sending it back for being soft, they'd treat it as a no-quibble return and offer it to someone else as "new" :nono:

Just to redress the balance for this lens, there are some sharp copies out there, but it does seem like Jessops are getting rid of returned 'soft' stock.

But I am very pleased with mine, bought it from Mifsuds and tried it in shop (and outside) before parting with cash, this chap should be pleased with his Love that shot!
