I'm contemplating renting a Sigma 120-300 for a trip next January. I was wondering if the Canon 1.4x extender physically fits the 120-300 and, if so, what the quality is like.

Well I've just checked and I can confirm it fits

But I've never shot with the combo so sorry - haven't a clue about quality.

I did use the 120-300mm with a sigma 1.4x a lot and found very little difference in quality if that helps. AF slowdown was noticeable though.

Cheers Richard.

Its for reasonably static subjects from hides so it may be worth a punt. I want to be able to zoom and until Canon do a 200-400 f4, this looks like the best option

im sure someone did this before and had some colour issues due to the different coatings on the glass. might be wrong though.

That's interesting man, I never noticed it when I tried the combo but it's not to say it wasn't there in my images (I've have a look when I get back) - I guess then a quick Custom WB applied to the camera setting should save any undue problems
