Yes
I'm after a bit of advice from fellow Sigma sport owners. I have just taken delivery of said lens, and whilst testing I noticed a strange noise and wondered if it was normal. My previous lens was the 150-500 so I'm used to some of the noises but this is a new one.

It sounds like either the OS or focus motor is operating every few seconds. This only happens when the lens is upside down. What I mean is when being carried on a rapid strap

If it's still under warranty i would be sending it in for a check, not sure if it would do the OS much good if it was on for any more than usual length of time.
Sigma are good for customer service so should be sorted quite easily.

Just rung and unfortunately they haven't another on in stock. They are contacting Sigma to try and get a replacement. However i gets even stranger because I have just tried it on my old 350D and not a sound. I have tried my other lenses on my 5D3 and again quiet as a mouse.

If you have the USB "puck" there's a firmware update that might help

Damn it, its on back order! Do you have a link? Hopefully the nice men at Sigma will be able to sort it tomorrow. They were very helpful, I spoke to one of there Service Supervisors this morning and they are going to test the lens to morrow as well as try other lenses on my camera to rule out an issue with the body.

Good to know Gary, looks like it may be something between the sigma and 5d3, oh well I'll see what Sigma say tomorrow, however they did say that the lenses weren't really designed to be upside down, in fact when I mentioned Black Rapid, they had no idea what I was on about!

UPDATE
After speaking to Daniel at Sigma yesterday, I took my lens and camera in to them. After listening to the fault, he tried a different body on the lens, the fault dissappeared. The next step was to try a different lens on my 5d3 and again NO noise. The outcome was that they let me try their lens on my camera for 15-20 mins to confirm I was ok with and replaced it on the faulty lens without question.

Excellent result and in my opinion excellent customer service. Thank you to Daniel @ Sigma and also thank you to Neil @ Clifton Cameras for dealing with the initial complaint quickly and professionally
