Sigma 120-300 OS release date, ermm..well..released

Sigma have finally made an official announcement about release/shipping dates for the 120-300 OS:

Following the reports of 'look but don't touch' at Focus I'm guessing that the weight has been played about with, as it's now quoted at 2950g circa 300g more than the present copy.

If (and it's a big if) it hits the shops at £2.5k dropping to £2 in a few months, and if the IQ and AF hold up (the MFT chart looks good) then this might at last be a closer challenge to the main manufacturers 300/2.8 primes.

Seeing a real world test will be interesting!

Indeed, from what I've seen the non-OS version was already a superb bit of glass.
Ideal for lowlight sports kind of applications where you need length, flexibility and the fast aperture.

This one could be an absolute stunner.

I have one in my shopping cart on wexpress.

Thing is though i can use 70-200 2.8 for glamour but think the sigma would be too long, however for nature and sports the nikon isnt long enough, but i cant afford both!
