Hi. I sold my Canon 55-250 as I found it to be a bit short at the long end and very slow to AF + IQ weren't that impressive, I have bought the Canon 15-85 and I love it! It has fast AF and stunning IQ and it's very sharp. But now I want something with more reach and as I found 250mm to be short I think that the 70-200 is out of the question for me. So I've narrowed it down to this 2 choices the Tamron 70-300 vc USD £277 from amazon and the Sigma 120-400 OS HSM £549 from panamoz. I would love to hear from people that have had experience with ether of these lenses and if u recomend a different lens please give detail to why it's better than the 2 above. Thank u.

The tamron will be much easier to carry around being a lot smaller and lighter, but it won't offer much length over your old 55-250mm.

The 120-400 will be much more of a lump to carry, but it'll definitely give you extra length. I can't comment on how the IQ compares, but they should both be decent (but then the 55-250 is also supposed to be decent, not sure if either will be that much sharper).

You should also consider the Sigma 150-500. It is big and heavy but a great lens with great reach. Good IQ for such a zoom. There are good deals around and also good second hand availability. I have the 50-500 and it is great, even in moderate light. Good luck

i had thought about the 150-500 but i don't think i would need that much reach as i originaly was thinking of the canon 100-400 but heard great things on the sigma 120-400. something to think about though.
