Hi guys just been trying to find out some info on this combo. It will be going onto a canon 1dsmk11.

Anyone have any thoughts . ? Has anyone tried this combo if so any images would be great if you have them..

personally i wouldn't use a converter on a lens like that, in my experience it made the lens more difficult to use, the AF kept hunting and wouldn't lock on the subject, also it made the image very soft

I tried something similar with a 150-500mm lens without OS/VR/IS. I used a kenko 2.0 TC and I experienced the same problems as above, plus AF was very, very slow and a tripod was a must

I've got the 150-500 (Nikon fit) and sometimes use a x2 converter on it. You can hand hold but tripod is way better. Here's a pic I took at Barnes Wetlands Trust Centre. It's a heavy lens and I brought a special bag for it when I'm out and about.

Sigma UK's chart states, '150-500' is Manual Focus, 1.4x or 2x converters do not work with the lens',

I tried a Kenko 1.4TC on my Sigma 150-500 yesterday evening, which was sunny.

At 500mm the lens is f6.2 so TC gives a further 1 stop loss, but I still had full autofocus on my D300s. Also OS was working as well, very well in fact.

This is a combined focal length of 500 * 1.5 *1.4 = 1050mm

As the evening drew on I tried AF and it still worked, but with more hunting as light dropped. But on a tripod I reckon it should work well, I was planning on field testing the setup tomorrow - weather permitting. I'll try and post some pictures at some point of this setup.

I look forward to your shots...

I know the 1DS mk11 will auto focus @ F8 and the iso handling is quiet good so it could be a decent setup in good light.

I have both 1.4 and 2x converters but it's manual AF only when used on my 7D, this was shot with both attached so 1400mm to see what it was like, I was quite impressed :D
