Yes
hi guys just wondered if anyone was using the above combo for macro and had any comments especially on the working distance/picture quality cheers as my tamron 90mm is far too close to the subject with the raynox on (2inch)

The Raynox is ok for people who wish to dip their toe in the water for close ups but it's not up to the level of the macro lenses you've mentioned. If you want to get higher than 1:1, then the first and easiest option is to shoot raw and crop. Further than that, extension tubes on your Tamron will work better. Having said that, anything greater than 1:1 will of necessity involve getting very close, even with the Sigma 150mm.

It'll increase your working distance but I suspect you'll get bad vignetting when used with the DCR-150. That's assuming you can get the DCR-150 to fit as the Sigma's 72mm filter thread is more than the clip-on adapter will stretch to.

there's a rear thread on the raynox, so u could look for a threaded step ring...

you may well be ok with a crop sensor camera

Yeah, it's 43mm. I have a 46mm-43mm step-down to use the DCR with my Oly 60mm macro and a 40mm-43mm step up to use it with my Fuji X30. I've tried using the DCR with my Sony RX10 but it vignettes all the way up to '200'mm.

thanks guys but ia anyone one using the 150mm and dcr 250 combo on a nikon

I'd imagine the reason is most of the time a 1:1 macro size is sufficient for all but the most dedicated macro enthusiast. Canon users are fortunate enough to have the MPE65, which I believe gives magnifications up to 5:1. A superb lens, but it is very specialised. It gets you very close indeed but you wouldn't use that on a field trip for bugs. What sort of magnification are you looking for?

its not the magnification solely i just need a decent working distance with the dcr 250,with my tamron and the dcr 250 the working distance is about 2 inch which doesnt feel enough as it scare most insects off

Well the Tamron 90mm working distance without DCR is 3.9" so from what you're saying the DCR halves it. The sigma 150mm has a working distance of 7.6", so if that's halved you're only going to get 3.8", so pretty much what your TAmmy gives without DCR. Of course, that logic might not be correct and without someone measuring the Sigma with DCR it's difficult to say ;)

The reason why I ask what magnification you want is that for most insects the 1:1 that you get from your Tamron 90mm macro is more than enough without adding an extra close-up lens to it. What are you trying to shoot that needs the Raynox in addition to your macro lens?

just the smaller insects like a white fly for instance

you can use a teleconverter, u gain 40% or 2x the magnification, and the dof should gain that much too, over being physically closer..

you could probably use a raynox too with that

thats very good something im looking to achieve whats the lens exactly simon cheers

I have used my Sigma 70-300mm APO for some close ups which I believe has a working distance of about 1.5 meters and 1:2 mag in the 200 - 300mm range. Not sure how much the Raynox would give you but maybe an option. Quick grab shot with the Sigma and D750. I bought the lens for £47.00 from Wex SH as a cheap lightweight option for me.

Same as mine > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sigma-D-7...310?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43df85d6ee
