Sigma 17 - 35 EX HSM for use on a Canon 400d

Anyone had experience of these lenses, good or bad??
Is it an improvement of the 18-55 kit lens at the wide end??

I have the kit lens and its a good copy and gives reasonable results some of the time, just does not do it all of the time.
Credit crunched as always, not just in 2009, so L etc are out of my budget for a very long time. I want a better wide end lens, have a nifty that i like a lot, just need a wider lens and I can pick these up for a bit over the £120 mark and they if a s good as other Siggies, should be ok if an ok copy.

What do you think on this??

Many Thanks

So is this lens so crap no one can comment on it or am I in the wrong section of the forum???

Someone please??? :) Help.

I've got one of these lens. I think they are ok for the money, if you get a good one. I up graded mine to a 17-40 F4L, it gives better colour and more contrast, but it should do for the price !

Just bought one and it arrived today, not tried it yet and will come back with my findings over the weekend

Bit of an impulse buy and if its not long enough will probably sell it on

Only other Sigma lenses I have are a 70-200 f2.8 and that's a cracker, along with a 18-50mm f2.8 which is ok

Hoping my luck lasts

Cheers

Thanks, did not expect it to be an L lens, so its a move on from the kit lens quality then.

Tijuana

Thanks, hope it works for you, yes please let me know how it goes,
where did you get it from by the way new or used?

S/Hand from Ebay, but came with everything including case and paperwork, looks like new

We shall see, not overly confident, but not really sure why though

Tijuana taxi, sorry did not get the monika right last time, thanks for that info let me know how you get on, good luck with it.

As promised i'm reporting back

Sorry no pics, but if I were to say they are softer than a double ply sheet of Andrex you would probably get the idea

Fortunately the chap has agreed to take it back otherwise might as well go down the same place as the bog paper

The kit lens is better and probably best to go for something like the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 or from personal experience the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX DG

Admittedly my 17-35mm was obviously a bad sample, but wouldn't chance it if I were you

Cheers
