Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 on a D7000??

Hi all,

Just brought a used D7000 and very impressed. Was an upgrade from my trusty D3100.

As I sold my kit lens with the D3100, I need a 'new' used lens. As I have just brought the D7000, money is tight, but I have been offered a Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 at a complete steal of £90. Its the non HSM autofocus type.

So; is this lens any good and will it work a D7000 (thinking that the body has autofocus??)

I will mainly be shooting a bit of landscape/urban/street with the odd family shots here and there.

Any help much appreciated!!
 
I have the HSM f2.8-4 version on a D7000, nice lens, certainly a nice step up from the 18-55 kit.

Should work fine using the in-body focus motor, and a bargain @ £90 IMHO. Another lens to look at is the Nikon 18-70, you should be able to find one a little cheaper.
 
Thanks. at £90 it would be worth a try, and if I don't like, then put on ebay :-)

Same for me too, the newer version on a D7000. More than happy with it.
 
Well, I brought the lens last night for a bargain £90. The lens is in excellent condition with no marks, fungus etc. Very chuffed.
It was late so could only take some indoor shots, but they seemed pretty good on the camera screen. Will hopefully get out this afternoon for some daylight shots.

There are bargains to be had!!
 
It has a very low minimum focus distance, so try getting right in close to stuff and see how you get on. Enjoy.
