Yes
so I'm after a lens to pair with my d7000 and the above three are my options.

I'm currently leaning towards the sigma 17-70 C, I'm thinking the 2.8 at the wide end plus the extra reach over a 17-50 would be good for me. It will be used for landscapes, astrophotographers, portraits and just general use.

Does anyone have any experience with them all or any?

What would you pick?

I've had both the Sigma and the Nikon 16-85mm but not the newer 16-80mm. If you can live without the last 10mm of range than the Sigma is a good choice. I especially liked it as it focusses reasonably close making shots like my avatar possible without close-up attachments.

Well I'll probably pair it with a tamron 70-300 vc soon so that would cover that end.

Sorry I actually meant the 16-85 not 16-80

ive got both the 17-70 and a d7000 though both are now surplus as i went fullframe. it was a great combo for me centre sharpness was brilliant though there is a little fall off in the corner. Light and compact i used it as my general lens for ages.

I used the 16-85 VRII for a while and it was a very good lens. It had good reviews on SLR Gear and Photozone.de, which are normally quite harsh with their scores. I don't have experience of the other ones but out of the 3 would probably still go with the 16-85 (I also prefer the extra 2mm at the wide end)

Yeah I'm still abit unsure about the route in going to take but I think it might be the sigma still

I had the Nikon 18-140 but it was a bit soft but a good walk around lens.I would go with sigma 17-50 2.8
