Anyone got this bad boy? What do you make of it?

I currently have an 18-135mm nikkor lens without VR, which I will hopefully be selling to pay for the Sigma. If anyone is at all interested it will be in the classifieds section around the 20th of this month when I am finally valid to post :D

I've got one on my D40 - love it to bits. It is a compromise - 6.3 is quite slow at 200mm but for a stick-it-on-and-walk-about lens it's superb. I'm not into carrying tonnes of kit around - I hand-carry my camera with only the 18-200 on it and won't take anything else. OS is superb - really makes a significant difference, especially at 200mm. I bought mine to replace the kit lens and to have as a 'default' lens which stays on most of the time - I've just got a Sigma 10-20 and will look to get a faster prime lens in due course. For £300 odd, you can't go wrong.

Thank you mr white. I am like you and prefer to carry minimum kit. I am also interested in the 10-20mm Sigma too and I was planning on getting that next. I like Sigma lenses! Always priced well and they seem to produce excellent quality shots.

Well that has thew me right off course, thanks :D haha

To be honest I have'nt found the picture quality with the 18-135mm to be all that fantastic. Don't get me wrong, its a nice lens to use, but I really want some VR/OS/IS or whatever you like to call it :)

Digital Photo mag rated it above the Nikon 18-200vr - overall and image quality. I've been looking at upgrading from the 18-135mm for sometime and the Nikon is now way too expensive.

I've got one, and its my main lens (knocking a 28-300 off), its fantastic. :)

I suggested this one for my dad because hes needed something that covered a huge range. I did quite a bit of research and it was between this and a canon model. I tried both out ina shop myself before suggesting the Sigma was better. He's had it for a few months now and its a fantstic piece of kit. Build quality is above average and picture quality is good across pretty much the whole range. Obviously proffessionals would frown upon the quality you'll get but its nothing short of great in my opinion. Go buy, now! 8.7/10
