Looking to condense my lens list i currently have a 18-55 vr kit lens which i got with my d60 about 18 months ago and also my tamron 70-300 ld di.

I also have my sigma 150-500 and a 50mm.

At the moment the Nikon stuff seems just out my price range to cover the same.

Just wonder if anyone had used or uses one of these.

I have seen a few reviews on Google but i like to try on here as well.

I had one in a Canon fitment, it was brilliant for the money. Admittedly Jessops had some daft sale on and I think I only paid £149 brand new, but as a walkabout lens I think it was excellent.
 
I had one for a couple of years as my walkaround lens. Very good value, decently sharp below 150mm when stopped down a bit, but noticeably a bit soft beyond 150mm. I think the OS version is optically better and built better so that might be worth a look too.
 
I have the OS version which I used for some time as my main lens. The flexibility of being able to get virtually any shot with one lens was great, but as already mentioned the images can get a little soft at the longer end and f/6.3 was a little slow especially in dim light.

I guess it all depends on what you want to do and your style of photography.
 
It mainly is a a general purpose walkabout lens really. Just so it covers most of the ranges.
I gathered the os version is slightly better from a few reviews i have read but the idea was just to sell my other lenses and get this one didn't want to have to put a great deal of cash towards a new lens.

I have to OS and i use it as my holiday lens. it has a bit of a colour shift but nothin serious and the OS is pretty good, takes a couple of seconds to stabilize but not really an isue. as above, focusing in low light is so-so
 
I think you would do better picking up a Nikon 18-200mm VR I second hand than getting the Sigma. I absolutely love the lens and got mine for a steal on these very forums. I love the fact I can get away with taking one lens with me when I head out and only take the primes/fisheye when Im going for a proper shoot. Its not that light by comparison to the kit lens, nor have I seen any issues with IQ. For me, its worth every penny.
 
I used to have the OS version with my Nikon D90, not a bad word to say about it really, nice walkabout lens and I bought it for the same purpose as you, to replace my kit lens and 55-200mm. It was definitely a good lens to have instead of those two and often miss the handiness of it, bit slow at the zoom end, but that can't be helped with a walkabout lens like this.
