I've been offered the above lens for £100, second hand but only been used a handful of times by a workmate of my husband's. Looking on ebay that would seem a pretty good price.

I'm not familiar with the lens so can anyone tell me anything about it please, what's it best used for. Already have at my disposal 55-250 and 70-300 aswell as kit lens, would this be a useful addition to my kit?

Thanks for any info.

Hmmmm... I had one of those once, didn't get on well with it at all. Found it slow to focus and not as sharp as I would have wanted. Bought it off eBay for £100, sold for same...

The fact that you already have this range covered with your other lenses, don't really see the point. 18-200mm class as a hyperzoom, in my personal opinion not a great lens, IQs on par with your kit lens, its slower to focus, advantage, covers a useful range, but at best holiday snap lens.

Zooms work best with a 1:4 ratio or better, eg 70(1)-300(4)mm, (70 goes into 300 about 4x) any thing greater and you lose image quality plus host of other issues. 18-200mm has a ratio of 1:11, not good. Save your money for something else.
