Hi folks.

Anyone regularly use this lens or had one and got rid ?

I was going to go for a Tammy 17-50 f2.8 but I can't really afford £200+ at this time of year so was looking for a slightly cheaper option.

Will be using it generally on a 30D.

Initially was just gonna go for a the 18-55 IS for under £100 for now but came across the Sigma while browsing.

Is it worth the extra premium over the 18-55 IS ?

I'm open to other options.

Cheers.

This lens is rubbish really, and adding OS to something like this is like putting lipstick on a pig. The result are not going to be pretty.

Don't mistake the f/2.8 - f/4 for the much better 18-50 f/2.8.

Stick to the Tamron 17-50 which is better than any of Sigma's 18-50s...

I have the f/2.8 version of that a lens and enjoying it so far but from what I hear can't really compare the 2. Not sure if it's worth investing into one if you'll just end up getting a Tamron in the future anyway, saving up for it may be a more prudent option.

Bought one and it went back next day, might have had a wrong'un, but it was truly awful

Took some comparison shots with a Sigma 17-70 and the 18-50 was far inferior

Shop had no qualms about the refund, I did also offer to show them the pics I had on a flash drive

From my experience, avoid
