Im considering this lens over a tamron 17-50 as from what i;ve read it has a faster focus.

Does anyone have this lens? What do you think about it?

Id be getting the latest EX DG Macro HSM version if i was to buy...
 
I have this lens in Canon format (so no HSM). I find it really sharp and produces excellent colour and contrast. I also have a 18-55mm IS lens and it knocks blocks off that lens. The focus is fast, even in the non-HSM version and it hardly ever hunts. I was concerned mine was front focusing when I compared it at F2.8, but I have since found out it was my technique.

I would recommend this lens to anyone who is looking for a standard f2.8 zoom on a crop camera.
 
Thanks both, I pick mine up in the morning and am taking my d90 into work with me so I can have a little play in the morning

Whereabouts in Brum did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? I thought this model had been discontinued.

eBay mate.
Picked it up and first impressions are good. AF speed is ok and from the limited tests ive done it seems quite sharp.
