Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC or Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DG macro whats the difference is it the quality between the two
 
Where are you getting those names from?

The 18-50 f/2.8 EX DC Macro is the only variant which I know of. It sounds to me as if you are price comparing two different retailers who has marked them up differently/incorrectly.

no as far as iam aware but not 100 % there are two models

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC
Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC MACRO
i think the latter is a newer model i was wanting to know if it is inferior to the newer macro model
 
The newer model is also HSM, ie faster focusing.
