Sigma 24-70mm "IF"

Possibly a typo but if you click here: http://SPAM/cse9np it also shows a lens matching that description.

The HSM version is the new version which costs around twice as much as the non-HSM version iirc.

"Sigma has recently introduced the launch of its new 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM lens for DSLR cameras. It incorporates an ELD or Extraordinary Low Dispersion glass, two SLD or Special Low Dispersion glass elements and three aspherical lenses providing you an excellent correction of aberrations.

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM lens is a lens that is compatible with Canon DSLR cameras as well. This lens comes featuring a super multi layer coating that reduces flare and ghosting. Rest assure to get a quiet and high speed auto focus using this advanced lens in your DSLR camera that comes equipped with HSM or Hyper Sonic Motor.

The new Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM lens is expected to be out in the market on January 25th, 2009. Its Nikon and Sigma versions will be launched in February 2009."

Flash in the Pan recently tried a canon mount HSM version - he was not happy, very bad copy of the lens, went back almost immediately

BTW, the "IF" stands for Inner Focusing, i.e. the lens doesn't extend nor does the front element rotate during focusing. I believe it's also internal zooming.
