Sigma 24-70mm

Personally I think the Sigma 24-70 is pretty good. I use Nikon and have the 24-70 from Nikon itself and also the Sigma version. While the Nikon one is superior the Sigma one is still very good. If price is a factor, go for the Sig.

I used the Sigma 24-70 for a few years and was happy with it and used it quite often. I have since bought the Nikon 24-70 which is much much better however there is a big price difference as well. If i was looking at buying around £300-£400 range then i would take another Sigma-no problems at all.

the older non HSM version is a fairly good doorstop, but a brick might be cheaper...
the newer hsm version is still not as good as canon. Centre will be very decent but towards the edges the resolution will be less exciting on full frame.

You could look at going second hand and buying a used canon 24-70mm f2.8 MKI, this is still a great lens and personally still way ahead of the sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and a fraction of the price of the new MKII version, although the sigma is still less on the pocket.
