Folks I posted this in the specific Nikon D7000 thread but with it being a 3rd party lens I realised it might be better to throw it out as a wider query!

I'm a big prime fan and currently have the Nikon 50 f1.8 and 35mm f1.8 but I'd like something wider.

I've considered a 20mm and if money was no object I'd probably have the Nikon 24mm f1.4 but it's pricey!

Just looking for some impressions on the Sigma 24mm f1.8 on any body really ad to whether it's a good lens.

I'd also appreciate if anyone has used both the 24mm and one of the Sigma walkabouts zooms such as the 17-70 or 17-50 as I may just purchase one of those to give me a little more flexibility albeit losing some speed.
 
If it helps at all...

I have a Sigma 20mm f1.8 which I think is quite similar to the 24mm. I used it on my 20D and use it now on my 5D and it seems to be a good lens. It'd be better if it had HSM and was a bit more compact - it's a big fat thing - but not too heavy, but it is what it is and is IMVHO a good lens.
 
I've got the sigma 20mm 1.8 and is exceptional on full frame and crop bodies. I'm sure the 24mm would be similar.

I've no idea why Nikon can't make a 24mm DX fast prime
