sigma 28-70mm f2.8 on a sony a300?

hi all, im after a new lens and found the sigma 28-70mm f2.8 for £250 at jessops and was wondering what you guys thought about it. i was originally going for the tamron 28-75mm but at £400 i cant afford it. also what about the sigma gear stripping issues will it screw up on my a300?

no reasons why it would screw up on the a300

i loved my tamron on my a300.

ive just read a review and it has the same old sigma issues, softness and autofocus, i might just go with a tamron 28-75mm instad

You can get the Tamron from Amazon (not the marketplace) for about £320 last time I looked.
