Sigma 2x + Canon 70 200 f/2.8IS

Hi all

Quick question, is the Sigma 2x converter compatible with Canon 70 - 200mm f/2.8 IS L?
I've seen vague statements suggesting it may damage the element of the lens?

Anyone used / use this setup?

I used it in the past.

Yes it fits, sadly the image quality is a long way below par.
