Hi all,

I am considering the above lens for shooting sport with and perhaps a touch a wildlife. I am wondering what peoples opinions are of this lens and how well it takes either a 1.4 or 2x convertor (not at the same time but would be interesting to know if anyone has tried that or if its even possible?)

If anyone has any sample images they would be kind enough to post of the lens used in said combinations that would also be excellent!

Thanks

There was a thread concerning that lens a couple of weeks back - do a search and you should find it :)

Messiah Khan has the same lens with Nikon fit http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=240344

Maybe a quick PM to him asking his thoughts?

Great idea will try this as well.

I had the Sigma and used it with the 1.4x and 2x.

The 1.4 does not affect IQ almost at all.

The 2x makes it softer, but usable if you stop it down to around f8.

Hope this helps!

Most helpful yes. I have heard a few birders mention using a 300mm with a 2x convertor as a good alternative to having a 500 or 600 lens to carry round.

If I get one I can definately see myself getting a 1.4 convertor. Other thing thats crossing my mind is the 120-300 sigma but from reading I "believe" the prime to be sharper as it would be in most manufacturers ranges due to it not having to zoom.
