Morning All,

I'm looking to get a 300 prime which will mainly be used for motorsport, wildlife. Has anyone got and feedback on the above lenses?

Obviously the Nikon F4 is half the price but curious to hear what people think of the Sigma as i've heard quite a few mixed reviews.

Cheers in advance,

Daz

I had the Nikon f4 a while back. A good lens and not to heavy, took the 1.4tc ok. I wanted to shoot in lower light at times and bought the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 which has the 1.4 tc stuck to it 99% of the time. Very sharp lens which has stood up well against my other Nikons. I prefer the zoom hence why i never bothered with the Nikon 300 f2.8.

I have the Nikon 300 f/4, very nice lens. I often wish I had a 100/120 - 300 instead though for flexibility. If the new Sigma 120-300 wasn't so expensive I'd trade for it.

I've got a Sigma 300 EX APO f2.8 in Canon EF mount. I tried a 120-300 but prefered the prime. I use it with a Sigma 1.4X convertor and the IQ is very good. The 120-300 I tried was not as sharp as the 300 prime.

Looks like you tried a poor copy of the120-300. Its very widely regarded as sharper than the 300 prime. You get good and bad copies of both.
