Yes
Simple question, which would you take on Safari in Kruger if you had the choice?

200-400 without the shadow of a doubt, one of the best lenses ever made in my opinion

I own the nikon 300mm 2.8 and the 200-400. The 300mm hasn't been out of its box since I bought the 200-400, better still it also gives fantastically sharp images when used with the 1.4 and 1.7x converters too, giving great range.

Never used either, being Canon, but from feedback from those who have, the 200-400 no brainer.

Awesome lens, so I'm told

I have found a reputable company in Jo'burg that hires out lenses at reasonable prices. Might sell my Sigma (that I never use!) and use some of the funds to hire the 200-400 then.

I couldn't part with it, I've had it about 20 years and it was my most used/bashed up lens I own until the 200-400 arrived

Really? Care to share a link? I'm always looking to see whether there's anything I can learn from the way other companies operate.....

If canon made one I would buy/take the 200-400mm f4 :D

It's alot of money, but worth it, but if you can hire it more the better. Several Nikon friends have this lens and have taken some impressive images with it of things that move rather fast :naughty:

The 200-400mm without a doubt.Superb lens. Gets a bit heavy after a while though..

Kev.

depends on your money, the nikon is alot dearer,
what about the 120-300mm f2.8 sigma with either a 1.4x tc or 2x tc

I am not talking about buying, I already have the Sigma but hardly ever use it so thought I'd sell it to release some much needed funds and then just hire the Nikon for the 7 days I need it for.
