Tried one at Focus, wide open it's stunningly sharp...

I thought my Sigma 50mm and 85mm L were sharp wide open but this was just ...wow

Cameraworld had it for only £650 but sold out, I was sooooo gutted. :-(

I also tried the Canon 24-70, it was sharp but ultimately pretty boring to me..

If I used my 5D more I'd be very tempted by this lens.

Anyway, I also have the Sigma 50mm and although it's ok at f1.4 I wouldn't call it razor sharp. The Sigma 85mm is much sharper. I have those two and the 35mm would make a nice addition :D

I guess I've been lucky with mine, although to be honest in the beginning it had an eratic focus on the 5d MK II but on the MK III it sings! Still has pretty bad CA wide open though..

It's difficult to judge shots on here.

Here's shots from my 50 and 85mm, both f1.4. They're via photobucket which mangles them IMVHO but they're good on my screen. Both are 100% crops with the point of focus in the middle of these crops. The 85mm shades it I think.

I have been thinking about the 35mm but I mostly use MFT these days.

I have the sigma 35mm 1.4 and its the sharpest lens I've ever used. Sure all the reviews pretty much say it embarasses the canon and nikon equivalents or any 35 1.4 for that matter. Amazing lens

Looking at the first pic, that is very sharp wide open. Very tempted with this lens. Had the Sigma 50 1.4 and for me it was very sharp, I sold it because of its size as I wanted a smaller 50.

Also you would easily think Zeiss had manufactured it, really nice design. I'm eager to see their next full frame Art series prime

+1

If they made a 50mm one I'll be very tempted to upgrade given how good the 35mm is..

Wow it looks very nice indeed. I've been eyeing up a 35mm and 85mm and the Canon L versions are obviously very very highly priced and hard to justify for my uses.
It looks from what people are saying that a Sigma 35mm and 85mm are about as good as the Canon L's but at a fraction of the price. If they go well with a 5dmkIII I guess they would be good on my 1Dx.

Without question, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 is superior to the Canon from my tests so far.

Wow Phil that parrot's eye is razor sharp!

I think I will pick the 35 and 85mm up a bit later in the year once the price of the 35mm has dropped a bit. Then all I need is a good 50mm.....(and the list goes on hehe). :D
