Sigma 430EF Flash on a Canon EOS400D - also need a repairer recommendation

Two questions -

1. I have an old Sigma 430EF flash that I used to use with my Canon EOS5 (film). I am just about to receive my first DSLR - a Canon EOS400D. I assume the flash will work OK on this camera but I will be missing some or all of the auto features. Is this correct ?

2. The above mentioned flash was dropped and no longer switches on. If it is usable with the 400D then I would like to hear recommendations of repair shops that don't charge an arm and a leg.

You're in Norfolk. Try Norfolk Cameras in Dereham. They're authorised Sigma repairers and are quite cheap in pricing.
