sigma 50-500 lens

Hi,just wondering if anyone has used the Sigma 50-500 lens,if anyone could give me some feedback on it such like the Pro's & con's that would be great.thanks

I've the OS version and from my experience so far it equals the 100-400 iq wise and has better stabilisation.

Not much up you but if you check my Flickr sets I sort be lens too.

Pros: very good great range, fast af
Cons: heavy and needs good light for birds in flight and hard in low light

I've got the non-OS version and I like it a lot.

Pros: Great range and reach, excellent picture especially when stopped down slightly.

Cons: Heavy, no OS, a bit soft wide open at 500mm, focussing could be faster (although it's not that bad).

I think John about sums it up perfectly there. I've just got the 150-500 OS and the IQ with that is more than pleasing so far but it is just a bit on the heavy side and the 50-500 OS is just a tad heavier. The 100-400 L seems lightweight in comparison but is only about 1Lb lighter.

Every lens has it's Pro's and Con's, but on bang for buck the Sigma 150-500 is hard to beat.

have the os version and it my fav lens even over my nikon pro lenses,

Was looking to get the 50-500 at some point this year for wildlife photography.
