With the Sigma 50-500 HSM OS sharpness tends to drop off from 400 onwards + it's relatively big and heavy.
The Sigma 150-500 is said to be better (at least up to 400mm).
I bought mine from Panamoz: check their website for a price. Having owned a 150-500 previously, the 50-500 feels little different in terms of weight but the extra range is well worth having. Images are superb!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 150-500 OS to anyone. At Panamoz for under £600 with bank transfer and mines not soft after 400. This is at 500mm, 1/250 f8 and ISO 200 handheld and SOOC with no PP apart from a crop.
