Hi there ive had this lens for about a year now and the auto focus doesnt seem to focus on what i want. When i am using it im finding it easier to just use manual resulting in alot of out of focus images. The focus dial on the top of the lens just goes from one end to the other for ages. I have experiemented with nearly every setting on the camera and lens but maybe im missing something or is their a fault with the lens. Im using a Canon EOS 7d which only about 6 months old. I will be great full for any help. Thanks

Sounds like normal sigma reliability!

I have three different sigmas all waiting to go to servicing at sigma.

All between 1-3 years old and have been handled gently and had little use.

Sigma want £99 each lens just to look at them!!

I'd sooner put the money towards a real lens!!

When focussing, is the active focus point over something with enough contrast detail for the camera to "see"?

Yes for instance a white rugby ball on the green grass it still struggles to focus

Probably becuase the focus point is just seeing either the white of the ball or the green of the grass, neither of which gives it much to work with. Do I presume you are shooting moving subjects, check out your AF response settings, are you using Servo?
