Sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM .......?

but to summerise.. better than the canon 1.4 for wide open..

Yup. I have one. It's great. Wonderful. Buy one.

I don't think that it's ultra sharp wide open, just ok, but by f1.8 it's more than ok and at f2 it's sharp and overall I can't really fault it.

Plus you get a hood and a case with it. What's not to like?
