Sigma 50mm Focus Problems

Ive had my Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART for a little while now.
Me and a friend went out and did an engagement shoot today and it was playing up massively.
Its been fine for a good while, but today the focus kept missing and also on 3 occasions it completely stopped focusing.
No internal movement, nothing. It was as if it was in manual.

I had to switch the camera of the rectify the problem.

I have updated the firmware on my 2 6D's.
Is this something that could fix the issue do you think? Or do i have a dodgy lens?

Use the camera a bit more after the FW updates to rule it out?

Before the problems or when you got back after the problems with AF.

Is the lens still under warrant ?

I've updated the cameras since the problem to see if it helps. I bought the lens from Amazon. I can't return it but I'm sure it's till under warranty as I only bought it in March.

Sigma UK lenses are under warranty for 3 years, contact Sigma Imaging UK and get it booked in.

Have a play around and see if you can get the lens to misbehave again - if not, the firmware update might have resolved the issue (did the release notes on the firmware update suggest what it rectified?), but personally, I think I'd be tempted to speak with Sigma and log the problem and see what they suggest / get it in to them...

Try cleaning the contacts in both the camera and the lens, with a piece of pencil rubber or something.
It won't (probably) solve the problem, but it won't do any harm.

On a 3 month old lens I highly doubt it.

I'll try anything. Got an Asian wedding to shoot on Saturday aswel. The problems come at a cracking time!!

Maybe you're right, but he doesn't loose anything in cleaning them both, camera and lens.
