Hi Guys,

I have a Sigma 70-200 2.8 and it just will not auto focus! I have used it fine for a few shoots and now it has stopped focusing :cuckoo:

I know it is not the body at fault as my other glass works fine.

Does this sound expensive? I have 100% never knocked it or dropped it so could it just need a electronic reset?

Regards,

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the lens or even trying it on maybee a friends camera, just a thought

You haven't knocked the manual / auto focus switch on the lens have you? Sorry if you've already checked!! Sorry...I see someone has already asked! They hadn't when I started typing...honest.

The lens has no switch as far as I am aware?

Sadly I have no-friends who shoot Nikon. Maybe I will pop into a highstreet store that sells Nikon.

I have tried cleaning the contacts on the lens but to no avail.

Any other nice easy fixes? :D

Check the aperture ring - if that has moved away from F32 then it will not work

Mine plays up every now and then, clean both the contacts, take the lens off, turn the cam on and off and it usually sorts it

Turned it off and on again, twisted the focusing rings etc and now it works. I guess Sigma really isnt as high quality as the Nikon

They may not be so high quality, but the repair was cheap
