I've got the macro version 1, got it from the tp classifieds. I think its a great lens, I use it for motorsport, portrait and my pets.

At £1000+ bit out of the price range thats why the sigma

I have the hsmII and am really pleased with it, it is my most used lens at the moment, always on my d300 in the bag.
 
Stick that in the search function on here Dan and it will give you loads of results. :)

I've only just sold mine after 18 months of shooting weddings with it and it did me proud, I only sold it because I got a cracking price on a mint 70-200mm IS.
 
Only just taken delivery of mine so I haven't tried it yet. But it's a big heavy booga!
 
I've got the non Macro HSM version and it's easily the best money I've spent on a lens. Very fast and Very sharp.
 
I have the older APO HSM version, only cost me £350.....bargain. Great quality lens, both build quality and image. Very sharp, never had any problems. Only drawback of mine is the minimum focus distance, but for the money, really can't complain. If you get the new versions with macro, really don't think you would have any complaints
 
Thanks all for the feed back i think my mind is set now on getting one just need to find a good lens to do the widder range now:thumbs:
